Privacy Policy of SOCIETÀ ITALIANA BREVETTI S.p.A.

This document, concerning the privacy policy for personal data of Società Italiana Brevetti S.p.A., is intended to describe accurately the ways in which management and processing takes place of the personal data concerning our web site’s users and visitors, our clients, suppliers, the members of our mailing lists and in general all the entities we have working relationships with.

This document also constitutes the information pursuant to Article 13 of Legislative Decree of 30 June 2003 No. 196 for the entities whose personal information we process, and in particular for users of services available on our web site.

This information does not concern other web sites which may be reached through links from our web site, for which Società Italiana Brevetti S.p.A. is in no way responsible.

WHO PROCESSES THE DATA
The processor of the personal data processed pursuant to browsing our web site and of any other data used to supply our services, and in general of all data we process is Società Italiana Brevetti S.p.A., offices in Piazza di Pietra 39, 00186 Rome.

The indications below also follow the guidance given in Recommendation No. 2/2001 of the Working Party on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data
adopted on 17 May 2001 pursuant to Article 29 of Directive No. 95/46/EC, concern in particular, but not solely, the collecting of personal data online, and aim to identify the minimum measures that must be enacted with regard to the interested persons in order to guarantee the fairness and lawfulness of such activities (in application of Articles 6, 7, 10 and 11 of Directive 95/46/EC).

The entities which the personal data refer to, under Article 7 of Lgs. D. No. 196/2003, have the right at any moment to obtain confirmation of the existence or not of such data, and to be informed of their contents and origin, check their correctness or request to supplement, update or correct them.

The entities which the personal data refer to also have the right to request that the data be cancelled or transformed in anonymous form, or that data processed in breach of the law be blocked, and to oppose in any case, for legitimate reasons, the processing of the data. Requests under Article 7 of Lgs. D. No. 196/2003 must be addressed to Società Italiana Brevetti S.p.A.’s offices in Piazza di Pietra 39, 00186 Rome, or by email to roma@sib.it.

WHERE AND WHY THE DATA ARE PROCESSED
Processing in connection with services offered by this web site, as well as processing of personal data of clients, suppliers, members of our mailing lists, and in general of all entities with which we have working relationships takes place at the offices of Società Italiana Brevetti S.p.A. in:

and are managed only by employees, partners, collaborators of Società Italiana Brevetti S.p.A. who have been appointed for or entrusted with the processing, or by any personnel occasionally performing maintenance of electronic and computer equipment.

Personal data supplied by users who send requests for service, as well as by clients, suppliers, members of our mailing lists, and in general of all entities with which we have working relationships, are used for the purpose of performing the service requested, or for the purpose of fulfilling contractual obligations or requirements of law, and may be communicated to external entities entrusted with carrying out services also abroad, according to specific tasks entrusted to them, as for instance: entities entrusted with providing advice on legal or contractual matters, Information Technology consultants (only as far as is needed to ensure the working of computer programs and processes), members of the company’s board of auditors. In any case, said personal data are not communicated to other third parties, unless such communication is required by law or is strictly necessary to fulfil contractual obligations.

KIND OF DATA PROCESSED
Surfing data
Hardware and software which make this web site work register, during their normal operation, certain personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of communication protocols on line.

This information is not collected in order to associate it with identified users, but by their very nature they could, if processed and associated with data possessed by third parties, allow the identification of users.

This category of data includes IP addresses or domain names of computers used by users connecting to the web site, the addresses noted as URI (Uniform Resources Identifier) of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in answer, the code number indicating the state of the answer given by the server (delivered, error, etc.) and other parameters concerning the user’s operative system and environment.

These data are used for the sole purpose of drawing up anonymous statistics on use of the web site, and to check its correct functioning, and are deleted immediately after processing.

The data in question may be used for the assessment of responsibility in the event of online crimes against our web site: save for this case, data concerning web contacts are not generally kept for more than seven days.

Data voluntarily supplied by the user
The sending of email messages to addresses available on this web site by the site’s visitors is optional, explicit and voluntary, and therefore entails the acquisition of the sender’s email address, necessary in order to answer the sender’s message, and of any other personal data included in the sender’s message.

Users are advised not to include names or other personal data of third parties in their requests for service, unless strictly necessary.

Personal data concerning other interested categories (clients, suppliers, members of our mailing lists) not collected through this web site.

COOKIES
Cookie means a textual element which is inserted into the hard disk of a computer only upon authorisation. If consent is given, the text is downloaded in a small file.
Cookies have the purpose of streamlining the analysis of web traffic, or to signal when a specific site is visited, and allow web applications to send information to individual users.

No personal data of users are acquired through the web site in this regard.

No use of cookies is made to transmit personal information, no use of so-called session cookies or persistent cookies is made in any way, no system for the tracking of users is employed.

OPTIONAL SUBMISSION OF DATA
Save for surfing data as specified above, the site’s user is free to submit personal data in order to request information material, or other kinds of services offered by Società Italiana Brevetti S.p.A..

Failure to submit the data can make it impossible to supply the requested service.

Submission of data is optional also for other interested categories (clients, suppliers, members of our mailing lists and in general all the entities with which we have working relationships), but failure to submit data can make it impossible to fulfil agreements, finalise contracts or supply the requested services.

HOW DATA ARE PROCESSED
Personal data are processed on paper and/or through automatic systems, exclusively for the time necessary to achieve the aims for which the data are collected.

Specific security measures are observed in order to prevent loss of data, illegal or incorrect use and unauthorised access.
