EU TRADEMARK LEGISLATION<\/p>\n
Regulation (EU) 2017\/1001, to come into force on 1 October 2017, is a codified version of the European Union Trademark regulation that includes the changes introduced last year as part of the \u201cEuropean Union trademark reform package\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n Regulation (EU) 2015\/2424, which entered into force on 23 March 2016, introduced several changes<\/a> to the (EC) Trademark Regulation No. 207\/2009 that were part of the \u201cEuropean Union trademark reform package\u201d.<\/p>\n However, not all of those changes were immediately applicable: some of them will only apply as from 1 October 2017, owing also to the need for additional implementing rules.<\/p>\n The new European Union Trademark regulation is therefore a codified version<\/strong>, including all the amendments brought by Regulation (EU) 2015\/2424, either already in force or entering into force on 1 October 2017.<\/p>\n Changes include the removal of the graphic representation requirements for EU trademark applications and the introduction of certification marks as well as of a number of procedural rules, either new or amended.<\/p>\n Published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 16 June 2017, the new Regulation (EU) 2017\/1001 on the Trademark of the European <\/a>Union therefore replaces Regulation (EC) 207\/2009 and will be applicable in its entirety as from 1 October 2017<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Regulation (EU) 2017\/1001 apparently does not provide for transitional arrangements.<\/p>\n Watch the video of the European Union Intellectual Property Office<\/em>
