{"id":5547,"date":"2017-11-24T14:00:52","date_gmt":"2017-11-24T14:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sib.it\/?p=5547"},"modified":"2017-11-24T14:02:06","modified_gmt":"2017-11-24T14:02:06","slug":"al-via-ledizione-2018-dei-premi-designeuropa-euipo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sib.it\/en\/flash-news\/2018-edition-of-eupos-designeuropa-awards-kicks-off\/","title":{"rendered":"2018 edition of EUIPO\u2019s DesignEuropa Awards kicks off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COMMUNITY DESIGNS<\/p>\n<p><em>Registered Community design holders, whether individuals or <\/em>enterprises,<em> are encouraged to <\/em>sumbit<em> entries for the DesignEuropa Awards, intended to celebrate design registration as the step from idea to business asset.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/euipo.europa.eu\/ohimportal\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Union Intellectual Property Office<\/a> (EUIPO), in charge of registering Community designs, has launched the second edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/euipo.europa.eu\/ohimportal\/en\/dea-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DesignEuropa Awards<\/a> for <strong>excellence in design<\/strong> and in the <strong>management of design as an <\/strong>intellellectual<strong> property right<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The awards celebrate the owners of registered community designs in an effort to promote the registration of designs in the European Union as a passage from idea to company asset.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PFOPLshJnGk?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Candidates<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are three DesignEuropa categories:<br \/>\na) <em>Industry Award<\/em>: for the registered designs owned by companies with more than 50 employees and over \u20ac10 million in turnover\/\u20ac10 million balance sheet total.<\/p>\n<p>b) <em>Small and Emerging Companies Award<\/em>: for the registered designs owned by companies with fewer than 50 employees and less than \u20ac10 million turnover\/\u20ac10 million balance sheet total, or for companies established after January 1 2014, regardless of size.<\/p>\n<p>c) <em>Lifetime Achievement Award<\/em>: individual designers with a significant body of work of aesthetic value, created over the course of a career, which has also had a demonstrable impact on the marketplace.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates in categories a) e b) must be registered community designs valid at the time of sending the application, with no pending invalidity proceedings. Finalist designs must retain their validity throughout the selection and award period.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates in category c) must have made use of the registered community design system for their work.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Who may submit entries<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Entries may be submitted either on the candidate\u2019s own initiative, or by the Awards\u2019 promoters or by any other person, entity or institution that wishes to propose a candidate.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Applications<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Applications must be filed by 15 May 2018. There is no fee for applying.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Selection process<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Entries will be evaluated by a jury of qualified experts with ample experience in business, design and intellectual property.<br \/>\nThe jury will base their selection on the following criteria:<br \/>\n\u2022 aesthetic value and visual appeal<br \/>\n\u2022 demonstrable impact on the market<br \/>\n\u2022 sound marketing and management of design and other intellectual property rights.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Awards ceremony<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Awards ceremony is to take place in November 2018 in Warsaw.
