Unified Patent Court Mock Trial in Rome

The Unified Patent Court, which is to have jurisdiction on Unitary patents as well as European patents, is expected to be up and running by mid 2016.

An interesting opportunity to experience the procedures and practice of the new court is offered by the UPC Mock Trial that will take place in Rome on 21 April 2016.

Organised by the Centre d’Études Internationales de la Proprieté Intellectuelle (CEIPI) with the American Intellectual Property Association (AIPLA)  and SIB Società Italiana Brevetti, the Mock Trial will simulate an oral hearing before a hypothetical local Italian division of the UPC in proceedings for counterfeiting of a European patent with nullity counterclaim.

The case to be examined, concerning a biomedical implantable device, is taken from the one developed for the European Patent Judges Forum of 2011 and for the CEIPI’s Training Program for Technically Qualified Judges.

The event’s language is Italian, interpreting service is available upon request.

Booking deadline is 5 April, for further information please contact Roberta Ruotolo at email address [email protected] or call our Rome office at +39 06695441.
