Talking about raising teenagers’ counterfeit awareness at the IP Observatory meeting

On 3-5 May 2017 we’ll be taking part in the working group meeting of the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights of the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) to report on how to increase counterfeit awareness among teenagers.

Our partner Lorenzo Litta will contribute to the meeting by sharing the experience of engaging youngsters with the Unreal campaign, the awareness initiative designed to make teenagers aware of the importance of trademarks, intellectual property and the dangers of counterfeit products. The campaign has reached over 8,600 students directly since its launch in 2012.

The European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights is a network comprising intellectual property experts as well as a wide range of interested parties and economic sectors– from business associations to consumer unions, from the creative industries to European Union members of parliament –  contributing their technical skills, experience and knowledge to pursue the following essential aims:

  • provide ideas and information to shape effective intellectual property enforcement policies and to support innovation and creativity
  • provide data and tools to support the fight against intellectual property infringement
  • design campaigns to raise awareness of the value of intellectual property and the negative consequences of counterfeit products.
